LCS' kick-off tournament Lock-In 2022 has completed its group stage, with TSM and Immortals finishing in last place and eliminated from the competition. The remaining eight teams will now compete for the $150,000 prize money. Ahead of the quarter-finals, let us review the matches and take a look at the state of the teams.

Since TSM did not compete with the full squad roster, this elimination was a bigger disappointment for Immortals, as they were outclassed by Dignitas' new team. Immortals was not even able to get a single win in the entire group stage, and they will need to up their game before moving on to the LCS.

Important notes from group stage

As mentioned earlier, Immortals failed to win in the group stage, while Evil Geniuses advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-0 record. EG has a pretty competitive roster, with Impact, Inspired and Vulcan finally having a chance to win the LCS. Showing a strong presence at Lock In could improve their chances.

In Group B, Team Liquid put in a solid performance, losing only to EG in a very competitive and close game that lasted just over 40 minutes. CLG is in the targeted spot in the middle of the group, while Dignitas overperformed an Immortals with PowerOfEvil and Xerxe.

There was honestly more competition in Group A. 100 Thieves and Cloud9 topped the group but still had losses. C9's only loss was against 100, while 100 was defeated by FlyQuest. Remember that 100 Thieves has its full roster for LCS Lock In, while Cloud9 is missing its Korean stars and replacing them with Darshan, Zven and Isles.

After FlyQuest, Golden Guardians and TSM FTX had one win each in Group A, but GG's win was over TSM today, while TSM defeated FLY on the first day. This meant that Golden Guardians moves into the quarterfinals and TSM has more time to wait for its Chinese stars to prepare for the LCS.

100 Thieves vs Dignitas unfortunately looks like a one-sided game, considering that 100 Thieves is last year's champion and they kept their roster for 2022 and even strengthened it with a local talent, Tenacity. They also had a better group stage than Dignitas, which means they have what it takes to get to the semifinals via this game.

The second game of the night will be Team Liquid vs FlyQuest, a slightly more even matchup. TL is the favourite in this game, they still have the better roster and were in better shape in the group stage. But FlyQuest's performance was not bad either, they definitely have a chance.

They are followed by 4-0 Evil Geniuses against 1-3 Golden Guardians, who only defeated a TSM with missing parts. EG seems to be a strong favourite here, although Bo3 and Bo5 matchups are always good for surprises.

The last game is Cloud9 vs CLG, another balanced matchup in my opinion. With C9 missing their stars, they do not have much at the moment that separates them from CLG, a team with a mediocre roster. However, with their performance in the group stage and the fact that they beat CLG once, C9 is a step ahead.
