The 2023 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Spring Split is about to begin, starting from January 18 until March 19, and will see ten teams fighting for the honour of winning the first LCK title of the year.

LCK Spring 2023 format and team rosters

The LCK will start their 2023 season on January 18 at 8:00 AM GMT, with a dramatic opening day that will see both 2022 World Championship finalists in action once again.

Dplus (1.35) vs DRX (2.90)

At 8:00 AM GMT, fans will be able to see Dplus (formerly known as DWG KIA and DAMWON Gaming) going up against the 2022 World Championship winners DRX.

And that's not all. Later on in the day, at 10:30 AM GMT, fans will be further treated to a match between Gen.G Esports and World Championship finalists T1.

Unlike the LEC, which has seen some substantial changes this year, the LCK is following more or less the same format seen in previous years.

However, the league has made some mild changes that fans need to be aware of. Firstly, the match time for weekend games has been changed for the 2023 Spring Split, and will now begin at 6:00 AM GMT, instead of the 8:00 AM GMT start in the 2022 season.

As well as the schedule change, there's been some changes to the format for the Spring Playoffs, due to take place from March 22 to April 9. As opposed to previous years, the Playoffs will now follow as double-elimination format. Historically, the Korean league operated under a single-elimination format during the playoffs, with teams being eliminated after just one loss.

Teams will earn their spot at the playoffs through competing in the group stage, with each team playing 18 Double Round Robin matches. The top six teams from the group stage will advance to the playoffs, with the teams in first and second place moving immediately to the semifinals.

In the playoffs themselves, the teams will be competing for a share of the roughly $302,207 prize pool, with winning team and second-place runners up receiving an invitation to the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational.
