Overwatch League 2019 finals playoff schedule and bracket
With just two weeks of regular matches remaining in the 2019 Overwatch League, the attention of OWL fans everywhere is turning to the complicated series of knockout fixtures that will ultimately decide which team is crowned as Grand Finals Champion for 2019.
While we still don’t know what the meta will be - or which 12 teams will emerge from the regular season to compete for the Grand Finals prize - the one thing we know for sure is how the playoff matches will be scheduled.
To help you navigate your way through the play-in schedule and the playoff finals, we’ve created the ultimate Overwatch League 2019 bracket to guide you all the way to the Grand Finals on Sunday, September 29th.
Regular season placements
Once the last game of the regular season comes to a close at the Kit Kat Rivalry weekend on Sunday, August 25th, we’ll finally know which of the 20 teams have progressed through to the knockout stages.
Teams placed from seventh to 12th in the league table will proceed to a mini ‘Play-In’ tournament, where two spots in the Grand Finals Playoffs are up for grabs.
Teams placed from 1st to 6th will qualify directly for the Playoffs, earning an extra week to prepare for the finals and to adjust to meta changes and the 2-2-2 role lock.
The play-ins are a single elimination tournament, played over two days in the Blizzard Arena.
Teams placed seventh and eighth in the regular season get a bye to day two, whereas teams from ninth place to 12th fight it out on day one. On day two, the seventh-place team competes against the lower remaining seed, and the eighth-placed team competes against the higher seed.
As in previous Overwatch knockout tournament matches, the higher seeded team selects the first map. The loser of each subsequent map has the right to choose the following map.
All matches are in ‘first-to-four’ format.
Friday, August 30th
9th seed vs. 12th seed
10th seed vs. 11th seed
Saturday, August 31st
7th seed vs. lower-seed winner from Day 1
8th seed vs. higher-seed winner from Day 1
