Worlds 2022 starts on September 29: Schedule and predictions

It's the most amazing time of the year for League of Legends fans. Worlds 2022 kicks off on September 29. 24 teams will compete for the $2,225,000 prize pool.

Today, we will take a look at the Play-In: Round 1 matches, which is the first stage of the tournament. While the winners of the two groups will advance directly to the group stage, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams will try their luck again in Play-In: Round 2.

Worlds 2022 Play-In: Round 1 teams

  • Beyond Gaming
  • Chiefs Esports Club
  • DetonatioN FocusMe
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Fnatic
  • LOUD

There's obviously a lot of uncertainty in Play-In Group A. You should carefully follow the encounters of this group. Upset and Hylissang will not be able to play on Fnatic's roster due to Covid-19. Rhuckz will replace Hylissang, but it's still unclear who will replace Upset.

Normally, I would say Fnatic is my favourite in the group, but it looks like they will have a great rivalry with Evil Geniuses for the group leadership.

My guess for third place is Beyond Gaming. The team that seems closest to them is DetonatioN FocusMe. While I predict DetonatioN FocusMe to be fourth, they can finish in third place with a win over Beyond Gaming.

I think Chiefs Esports Club will say goodbye to the tournament in fifth place and LOUD in sixth place.

Worlds 2022 Play-In: Round 2 teams

  • DRX
  • Isurus
  • MAD Lions
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • Saigon Buffalo
  • Istanbul Wildcats

I predict Group B will be dominated by Royal Never Give Up, one of the most prominent League of Legends teams. I think DRX will take second place and their biggest rival is MAD Lions.

In my opinion, the last team from Group B to qualify for Play-In: Round 2 will be Saigon Buffalo. If my predictions are correct, Istanbul Wildcats will finish fifth in the group, while Isurus will be last.

In general, it seems easier to predict the standings and match results in Group B than in Group A.
