VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 Stage 2 has officially started, including Brazil. Thanks to LOUD’s success in Masters 1, Brazil will attract more interest now, and the first four games played this weekend were incredibly fun as well. The group favourites, Ninjas in Pyjamas and LOUD, started with 2-0 wins. Although Liberty gave NIP a hard time despite losing, FURIA Esports couldn’t keep up with LOUD’s pace. Next week, both LOUD and NIP will have significantly tougher opponents which will reveal if they are strong enough to repeat their success at Stage 1.
Games from the first week
In the first series of the Stage 2 Brazil Challengers, LOUD faced FURIA Esports. A strong showing on Ascent put LOUD ahead 1-0, with FURIA being able to take only three rounds away in total. Following that, the Masters finalists managed to dominate Breeze again, taking the win with 13-4 and getting the job done. aspas’ Jett deserves recognition as his 35-16-11 performance with 190 ADR helped his team get such an easy victory.
Los Grandes played Gamelanders Blue following that. Led by dgzin’s Neon, Gamelanders Blue secured Breeze 13-6, especially after a strong showing on attack side. However, pleets tied the series with his 24-12 Astra on Split. It was a close one on Astra, as both teams had strong defending sides, but Los Grandes needed only four rounds and they got it, even though Gamelanders Blue had the upper hand in the second half.
MIBR faced Keyd Stars the next day. After a 10-2 first half, MIBR already had the advantage on Bind, and finished it 13-5. Answering MIBR’s teamplay, murizzz carried his team back into the series with his 22-14 Skye with 302 average combat score. The tie would be broken on the third map Icebox, where jzz’s Chamber brought the victory to MIBR side.
The last game was Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Liberty. Stage 1 Brazil finalists had a strong performance throughout the series, but Liberty wasn’t giving up easily. After a 13-9 victory on Fracture, NIP started well on Split as well. Liberty also took eight rounds on the attacking side, taking it to overtime. As mentioned earlier, Ninjas in Pyjamas and LOUD will have stronger opponents this week. Although Liberty tried honorably to take NIP down, KS might have better tools to beat one of the strongest teams in Brazil on Saturday. LOUD will also face Los Grandes, the other team who took a win in the first week.
