Masters Copenhagen is over and we are getting ready for Champions Istanbul, the last tournament of VCT 2022. Before Champions Istanbul, Last Chance Qualifiers will be held in every region to determine the teams that will participate in the competition as the final representative.
Asia-Pacific Last Chance Qualifier will kick off at the start of August, including nine teams from APAC Circuit Points table and one team from Oceania: ORDER who won VALORANT Oceania Tour 2022. Bleed eSports, ONIC Esports, BOOM Esports, MiTH, Team Secret, Fancy United Esports, Griffin E-Sports, CERBERUS Esports and Alter Ego are the APAC teams fighting for a Champions spot.
VCT 2022 APAC LCQ format and teams
Starting on August 1, APAC LCQ will follow a double-elimination system that will determine APAC’s last representative at Champions Istanbul. That team will join Paper Rex and XERXIA, APAC Circuit Points #1 and #2. Considering Paper Rex’s incredible performance at Masters Copenhagen, we can safely say that VALORANT fans will be looking forward to seeing who gets that last spot from APAC.
As mentioned earlier, teams got their spot in APAC LCQ according to their performances all VCT 2022 long. Thus, Bleed eSports who finished Challengers 1 second and Challengers 2 fifth has the most advantageous position in the playoffs table.
However, considering their Challengers 2 performances, Team Secret and ONIC Esports seem to be better candidates for making Champions Istanbul. Alter Ego had the same points with Global Esports at 11th place, but thanks to their better Challengers 2 finish, they were able to participate in APAC LCQ.
Although Paper Rex had a great finish at Masters Copenhagen with a 3-2 loss against FPX in the grand final, APAC is still one of the improving regions in VALORANT rather than a leading one. XERXIA had a rough time in the group stage where they couldn’t get a single win. Thus, the winner of APAC LCQ will not only fight for their own pride, but also to show everyone that APAC is more than just a one team region.
