Pick Like a Pro: Valorant's Best Agents According to Pro Gamers

After almost 1 year after the release of Valorant by Riot Games, it was loved and played by gamers and took its place as one of the best FPS games of the decade. The game was also adopted by esports organisations and many professional players continued their careers with Valorant. When we thought about what kind of agents these professionals play, we decided to take a look at Riot Games' first official tournament, the Valorant Champions Tour 2021.

During the tournament, the teams' preferences in selecting champions were the talk of the town, as some champions were more favoured by the pros than others. The players made these choices judiciously and that helped them find the key to victory. Here is the list of the best champion picks of the VCT Stage 3: Masters Berlin.

1- Jett (85%):

From the early days of Valorant, Jett held her crown as the most picked agent of the year for almost 2 years. Not only in the professional arena, but also in regular play, Jett has always been the one players see as a starter agent on their team.

Jett's 85% pick rate is for a reason, of course. Her ability to jump on the high spots of the maps, her dashes and her smokes are a perfect combination for an entry agent. Jett's win rate in the VCT 2021 Stage 3 playoffs is 50%, which is acceptable for this amount of pick in the tournament. The nerfs that Riot Games has made for Jett seem pointless.

2- Sova (64%):

As one of Valorant's first agents, Sova was always a good choice to watch and control the map and inform the other teammates of the enemy's positions.

Interestingly, all teams have chosen Sova on the Icebox map, which is 100% the case, but not a single team was thinking about choosing Sova on the Split map. Thanks to Sova's very useful abilities, the agent's victory rate is 54.2%, while the most used weapon for Sova was Vandal.

3- Astra (60%):

Astra, one of Valorant's newest agents, shows us how well designed she is and found her place among the most voted agents of VCT 2021 Stage 3. Astra is also another hero who can help the team gain control of the map as she smokes the entrances on the sides even before she enters the side.

According to the stats, Astra ranks third on our list. Compared to Astra's pick rate, her win rate of 45.5% in the playoffs was not good. All teams picked Astra in the playoffs for the maps: Split and Bind, and both resulted in a win rate of 50% for this controller agent.

4- Skye (58%):

Another initiator-agent, Skye, got her name on the list with her loud lightning bird and her healing ability, which provided a group heal compared to Sage's one-agent heal.

While 92% of professional players at VCT 2021 Stage 3 preferred Skye in the Breeze, only 4% chose the Scottish agent in Icebox. With the exception of Icebox, the selection rates for Skye on the other six maps was over 50%. All teams chose Skye in the playoff contests on the Split and Bind maps. The weapon most frequently used by players was Phantom.

5- Viper (48%):

When we talk about setting up and taking positions, it is almost impossible to talk about this topic without mentioning the American controller hero Viper. All of Viper's abilities can help you organise the game better and win.

Viper has proven her success by being chosen by all teams on the Icebox and Breeze maps.  In addition, the team with Viper in Bind has a 66.7% win rate in the playoffs, even though its pick rate was 61% for the entire Stage 3.
