TSM makes management changes after Spring Split disappointment

TSM is making some changes to its management after the team failed to qualify for the 2023 LCS Spring Split playoffs.

TSM managers leave the organisation

The news comes via Twitter, where both team manager Chien-Yu ‘Kristine’ Huang and TSM's League of Legends General Manager Yang ‘Glen’ Po-Jen both announced that they had left the organisation.

Both managers joined TSM in 2022 after he was hired in February to replace former League General Manager Parth Naidu. Kristine meanwhile was hired two months later, after Glen approached her to manage TSM's LCS team.

Glen acknowledged that his departure was "bittersweet," but had warm things to say about TSM, despite the team's recent struggles.

"Many friends have asked me if I regret joining TSM," wrote Glen. "My answer is that if given the same opportunity ten times, I would still choose to join TSM without hesitation! Working with talented, passionate elites from all over the world for a year and two months at TSM was a privilege.

"To the players and coach at TSM - it was an honor to fight alongside you. Perhaps our efforts did not fully translate into results, but from my perspective, each of you has made tremendous progress! I believe that you will be able to shine in the near future!"

Kristine and Glen are just the latest to have left TSM, with COO Walter Wang having also left the organisation earlier this week.

Glen's departure has proven to be particularly controversial, given his popularity with both fans and players alike. In fact, top laner Colin ‘Solo’ Earnest just recently credited Glen as being the reason he signed with TSM for the 2023 season.

The management changes come against a backdrop of their LCS team's struggles so far this year. The team struggled following the recent departure of jungler Mingyi “Spica” Lu, ultimately ranking in 7th place at the end of the Spring Split - thereby missing out on the LCS Spring Split playoffs.

Time will tell if the management changes will reverse TSM's fortunes, or simply make a bad situation worse.
