TSM is leaving the LCS

TSM has revealed that is due to depart the LCS, and will instead be joining another yet-unnamed tier-1 region.

TSM to join another tier-1 region

The news comes via TSM CEO Andy ‘Reginald’ Dinh, who announced that the organisation is due to step away from the LCS, after over a decade in the region.

"We have made a tough decision to start the process of transitioning to another tier 1 region," Reginald explained in a video posted to Twitter. "This may feel sudden but, to be honest, we’ve been actively working toward this for the last 3 years.”

While Reginald celebrated the successes TSM has seen since its founding, he regretted that the organisation has so far failed to win a World Championship - despite multiple attempts. As Reginald put it, "the job is not finished."

"I believe that moving to another region will reignite our hunger to do whatever it takes to win a World Championship."

The CEO also thanked every player, coach and staff for their "hard work over the last 13 years," and thanked fans for being with them "every step of the way."

The move was somewhat anticipated, with many fans having speculated that TSM was preparing to pull out of League of Legends entirely - after reports emerged in April that the organisation had offered minimum salaries to their LCS roster, amid rumours that they were looking to sell their League of Legends division.

It is nonetheless the end of an era, however. With over a decade on the scene, TSM had become a beloved team on the LCS - and until recently was regarded as one of the strongest teams in the region, despite routinely struggling at international tournaments.

And while their performance in recent years has been somewhat disappointing (having recently ranked in 7th at LCS Spring 2023), the news has still come as a blow to the organisation's many fans, who were holding out hope that TSM could once again rise to prominence in the North American region.

And while it remains to be seen which tier-1 region they will be joining, TSM is still due to finish out the LCS Summer Split.
