TI9 Battle Pass price fails to deter Dota fans as prize pool swells

The TI9 Battle Pass price set by Valve has seemingly not put off Dota 2 fans as The International 2019 prize pool set a new 24-hour record.

Valve ended fans' wait for the TI9 Battle Pass with a release on Wednesday and fans many fans were quick to reply with "take my money" memes.

And it seems they are putting their money where their mouth is, despite the new TI9 Battle Pass price structure.

The price structure for the TI9 Battle Pass is slightly different to previous years with Standard, Level 50 and Level 100 available.

  • Standard (24 levels) - $9.99
  • Level 50 - $29.35
  • Level 100 - $44.99

Other TI9 Battle Pass levels are also available to buy for Dota 2 fans.

The International 2019 prize pool swells

As is customary, Valve commits 25% of Battle Pass sales to The International prize pool and fans have helped set a record amount year on year. TI8's prize pool was a record $23,932,177 but only marginally higher than TI7's $23,187,916, and whether the prize pool for TI9 in Shanghai will raise the bar again remains to be seen.

However, early indications are good for Valve and the pros heading to China on August 6, with record breaking sales in the first 24 hours of release.

It came after Cyborgmatt, the Director of Operations at Team Secret and the man behind Dota 2 Prize Pool Tracker, reported that sales had hit more than $3m in just over three hours, setting a course to break previous 24-hour sales records.
