The International 2022 will start on October 15

Dota 2's publisher Valve has released brand new information about The International 2022: The tournament is scheduled to begin in October. Start counting the days, because the group stage starts on October 15, and the finals will take place on October 30. We also return to Asia after a year in Bucharest, as the tournament will be held in Singapore.

Last year, we witnessed an amazing competition in Bucharest, Hungary, where Team Spirit defeated PSG.LGD and took home the trophy. Recently, OG, who was eliminated from the championship race at TI, won the ESL One Stockholm 2022 Dota 2 Major, earning some valuable points for the Dota Pro Circuit. As announced by Valve, The International 2022 will kick off in Singapore on October 15. Just before that, the Last Chance Qualifiers, which will take place between October 8-12, will determine the final teams that will take part in the tournament. After the group stage ends on October 18, the playoffs will take place between October 20-23. Finally, the Grand Final will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on October 29-30.

So after the top thirty Dota 2 teams from around the world meet, the Aegis of Champions will find its new owner on October 30, in Singapore. It will be the first time that Southeast Asia has hosted The International and it is sure to be a beautiful experience for residents and overseas visitors alike.

Aside from announcing where The International will be held, Valve also mentioned that there will be a new Dota 2 update, the Dota Plus June Update, which will include the gameplay update 7.31d as well as the seasonal update and some new features.

The road to The International

The journey to The International 22 has already begun. We are on our way to the third tour of the season: the first two tours are over and the points have already been awarded. The top twelve teams in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings will secure a spot in Singapore. PSG.LGD, TSM, OG, Gaimin Gladiators and Thunder Awaken seem to be one step ahead thanks to their success in several Tour 1 and Tour 2 tournaments.

After the top 12 teams in the DPC have taken their places, regional qualifiers will be held in North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China and Southeast Asia. One team from each qualifier will earn a ticket to The International 2022.

To make it thirty, two more teams will be added from the Last Chance Qualifiers. As mentioned earlier, the LCQs will take place between October 8-12, just before the tournament itself. Therefore, the teams that made it are likely to be at a significant disadvantage, and rightly so.
