There were surprises in both matches of the semifinals.
Both predictions I made about the semifinals were wrong. Interestingly, I thought Cloud9 would be eliminated in the quarterfinals, but they won. I thought they would beat Team Liquid in the semifinals, however, this time they were beaten. Please Cloud9, stop making my predictions go wrong.
- Cloud9 1 - 2 Team Liquid
Team Liquid was normally putting on an amazing performance. So much so that they were the favourites in my eyes until the semifinals. However, my mind changed after Cloud9 finished first in Group D and eliminated the tournament favourite FaZe Clan in the quarterfinals. I thought Cloud9 would eliminate Team Liquid, but after three close maps, Team Liquid advanced to the grand final.
- G2 Esports 0 - 2 Team Vitality
In this particular match, G2 Esports was my clear favourite. In the first map, G2 Esports performed very poorly, losing 8-16. The second map went into overtime, but the winner was Team Vitality with a score of 19-16, and they won the series 2-0.

- Team Liquid 2 - 3 Team Vitality
The grand final match between Team Liquid and Team Vitality was fantastic. In the first two maps, both sides won by 16-7 and the Bo5 series started 1-1.
Competition was at the highest level on Mirage. 49 rounds were played. The winner was Team Liquid with a score of 25-21. What an endless map it was.
Then Team Vitality tied the score with a 19-17 win in Overpass and the grand final extended to the final map, Vertigo.
Team Vitality was the winner in Vertigo. They became the ESL Pro League Season 16 champions with a score of 16-11. They did not lose any matches in the group stage as well, and they showed an undefeated performance that exceeded expectations, making them the champions.
