Armel “Armel” Tabios and Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy join Team Secret
The signings are part of a roster overhaul, after Team Secret found themselves in the unfortunate position of being relegated to division II following their disappointing 2023 performance. The team finished the first WEU tour in 8th place, thereby not only failing to qualify for the Lima Major but also losing their status as a first-division team.
The overhaul began last week, when Team Secret parted ways with both Baqyt “Zayac” Emiljanov and Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok. And it seems that Armel and yamich will be filling in for the departed players, according to an announcement from Team Secret.
Team Secret aren't the only ones to have had a rough start to the year, with both of their new players joining the team fresh from disappointing tours of their own. Armel is joining the roster from Fnatic, who temporarily withdrew from the Dota 2 competitive scene in February after they too were relegated to the second division.
Yamich, meanwhile, missed out on the most recent tour, as he parted ways with his former team Virtus.Pro in December last year.
There's also been something of a restructuring within Team Secret as a result of their newest teammates. Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan has been moved to the offlane in order to make room for Armel.
Both of the new players will clearly be hoping that Team Secret's relegation to division two will be short-lived. It's a reasonable hope to have too - despite the team's disappointing performance so far this year, Team Secret are (mostly) still the team that finished The International 2022 in second place. So there's every chance that we could see Team Secret back on top form soon, complete with their rejuvenated roster.
