Facing Dark, Ryung, ShoWTimE, TIME and SpeCial in Group B, Serral came first with a total score of 10-0, winning all five Bo3 matches in a clean fashion. With this magnificent performance, he started the playoffs from the quarterfinals.
Facing Maru in the quarterfinals, Serral won 3-1. His opponent in the semifinals was Rogue. Although it was one of the matches expected to be the most competitive of the tournament, Serral won comfortably with a score of 3-0.
Reynor advances to the grand final with comebacks
In the quarterfinals, his opponent was Dark. Reynor won the first map, then lost two maps in a row. He did not give up and won two more maps and eliminated Dark with a score of 3-2. In the semifinals, he faced HeRoMaRinE. Having lost two maps in a row, Reynor once again was at the risk of elimination from the tournament. Reynor won three maps in a row, and advanced to the grand final by eliminating his opponent with a score of 3-2.
The breathtaking grand final
The grand finals match between Finnish Serral and Italian Reynor treated StarCraft II lovers to great moments. In the first two maps of the Bo7 series, Serral was victorious. However, Reynor won three maps in a row, and took the lead. Serral won the last two maps, and finished the Bo7 series with a 4-3 score, thus, becoming the IEM Katowice 2022 champion.
