Roobet Cup starts with 16 of the best CS:GO teams

With a prize pool of $250,000, Roobet Cup kicks off on June 22 with sixteen CS:GO teams from around the world. A group stage in double elimination format and playoffs in single elimination format will be played until June 30 to determine the champion, who will receive $150,000 from this huge prize pool.

9z Team, Astralis, BIG, Cloud9, Complexity Gaming, ENCE, Entropiq, Eternal Fire, FaZe Clan, forZe, FURIA Esports, Imperial Esports, MOUZ, Movistar Riders, OG and Outsiders will participate in the Roobet Cup. The tournament will take place online and will be streamed live on Roobet's own esports channel on Twitch. Let's take a look at the groups.

Group A

It's a particularly unfortunate draw for Entropiq, as FaZe Clan, OG and BIG are all in the same group - Group A. None of them were able to get the finish they were hoping for at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals as BIG were eliminated in the group stage, FaZe in the quarter-finals and OG in the semi-finals. Entropiq will try to surprise these strong candidates for the championship.

Check out the Group A schedule below:

June 22, Wednesday
BIG (1.52) vs Entropiq (2.35) - 15:00 CEST
FaZe Clan (1.28) vs OG (3.40) - 19:00 CEST

June 24, Friday
Winners’ Match - 15:00 CEST

June 25, Saturday
Elimination Match - 15:00 CEST

June 26, Sunday
Decider (Second place) Match - 15:00 CEST

Entropiq's first challenge will be much easier than the one against FaZe or OG. But either BIG or they will have to fight through one of these strong teams to make it to the playoffs. Obviously, PGL Major Antwerp 2022 champions FaZe Clan are expected to top this group. We will see if they are able to do that.

Group B

Group B will also see strong competition for places in the playoffs. Cloud9, Movistar Riders, Astralis and Complexity Gaming are in this group. Astralis and Cloud9 stand out as group favourites, Astralis could perform well every now and then and C9's new roster recently won IEM Dallas.

Check out the Group B schedule below:

June 22, Wednesday
Astralis (1.22) vs Movistar Riders (4.00) - 15:00 CEST
Cloud9 (1.03) vs Complexity (9.00) - 19:00 CEST

June 24, Friday
Winners’ Match - 15:00 CEST

June 25, Saturday
Elimination Match - 15:00 CEST

June 26, Sunday
Decider (Second place) Match - 15:00 CEST

The group favourites will not meet until the winners match on Friday. However, there is a good chance that Complexity or Riders will pull off a surprise win and secure a place. IEM Dallas champions Cloud9 are one step ahead of Astralis and they will look into finishing the group in the first place.

Group C

Group C is a little weaker overall in terms of team strength. ENCE, Eternal Fire, Imperial Esports and MOUZ are in this group. ENCE and MOUZ are the favourites, but their job is not easy as Imperial Esports is hot on their heels. Eternal Fire could also take advantage of the fact that these teams often fall short of expectations.

Check out the Group C schedule below:

June 23, Thursday
ENCE (1.20) vs Eternal Fire (4.00) - 15:00 CEST
Imperial (2.60) vs MOUZ (1.42) - 19:00 CEST

June 24, Friday
Winners’ Match - 19:00 CEST

June 25, Saturday
Elimination Match - 19:00 CEST

June 26, Sunday
Decider (Second place) Match - 19:00 CEST

Eternal Fire recently secured their ticket to the ESL Pro League and will now face the toughest team in the group, ENCE. Although ENCE is the favourite, the Turkish roster has what it takes to turn the tide. Imperial Esports against MOUZ is a closer match. FalleN and his friends could outplay MOUZ if they get the chance, as they have already overtaken them in the HLTV rankings.

Group D

The final group of the Roobet Cup includes Outsiders, forZe, FURIA Esports and 9z Team. FURIA and Outsiders are the favourites, but Group D is undoubtedly the weakest group in terms of competitiveness. The favourites should easily make the playoffs, but they definitely will not be the favourites there, no matter who they face.

June 23,Thursday
Outsiders (1.65) vs forZe (2.10) - 15:00 CEST
FURIA Esports (1.12) vs 9z Team (5.30) - 19:00 CEST

June 24, Friday
Winners’ Match - 19:00 CEST

June 25, Saturday
Elimination Match - 19:00 CEST

June 26, Sunday
Decider (Second place) Match - 19:00 CEST

Outsiders and FURIA will only meet in the winners match, and they should easily do that as forZe and 9z don't look as strong. However, neither team is perfect. It's not what we expect but it would not be a surprise either to see them fail, to be honest.
