What to watch?

If you remember last week’s long and in depth article on the APAC faceoffs, fresh faces are changing how the landscape of APAC looks and our theory seems to be holding up:

Both the Taiwanese and Japanese rosters are heading into the Charlotte Major. Let’s see how they are performing and what to expect of them.

Another spot for the all-Japanese CAG team, who qualified for the Charlotte Major by reaching the upper bracket final of the APAC Playoffs.

They had to overcome DWG KIA, one of the most successful APAC squads of all time and one of the odds-on favourites to win the APAC Playoffs, to get there. Their victory was exceptionally tense, since CAG came back from a map down to win 2-1 with two overtime maps and one maximum regulation time map.

CAG's Sho "BlackRay" Hasegawa stood out in the match against DWG, recording a 48-21 K-D and a 1.46 Rating.

While the end is almost in sight in the APAC Playoffs, CAG can at least be content with the fact that they've clinched a spot.

This formidable yet inexperienced group seems like they could be the new king of the jungle.

Dire Wolves have qualified for the Charlotte Major after a 2-1 comeback victory over TALON. This is the Taiwanese team's first international appearance.

2022 is shaping up to be Dire Wolves' year. They concluded APAC South play with a perfect 7-0-0-0 record, and with some effective preparation, they might carry that success into the Major. Dire Wolves still are unbeaten in the APAC regional competition in 2022.

Dire Wolves had to wait until max overtime on the decisive match in their upper bracket semifinal encounter against Talon Esports to clinch their Major berth, and even had an astonishing 1v4 clutch on the penultimate round.

Due to Dire Wolves qualifying, there are just two slots available for the APAC teams at the Charlotte Major, and the lower bracket teams will eventually have to face the heavyweights DAMWON and TALON if they want to earn a spot at the Charlotte Major. Normally it would be tough luck for the lower bracket teams but both Dire Wolves and CAG proved that one day the student becomes the master.
