Overwatch 2 released as Free to Play

Overwatch 2 is out with an updated design that replaces the original game and a content-packed new battle pass.

Although many changes have been made on the first game, it does not feel much different according to the comments of the players, and the biggest difference is that the second game is Free to Play, not Buy to Play. However, the players can purchase Watchpoint Pack optionally for $40.

What does the Watchpoint Pack contain?

The Watchpoint Pack, which players can purchase for $40, includes a few skins, 2,000 Overwatch Coins, and the first season's premium battle pass. Let's add that Overwatch Coins are the new premium currency.

It is also noteworthy that the new support hero Kiriko is included in the battle pass. The fact that the heroes are included in the battle passes and the others are unlocked with grind seems not to be liked very much.

The game is not fully released yet

If you remember, Blizzard showed the PvE part and the talent tree system when they announced Overwatch 2 in 2019, but these are not yet in the game.

Three new heroes have been added to the PvP section. These heroes are Sojourn (damage), Junker Queen (tank), and Kiriko (support).

There are also many new cosmetics in the battle pass and in-game shop. Blizzard plans to release new seasons every nine weeks.

A new tank hero will come in Season 2, and it was said that with each season, there will be new map changes and new characters will be added.

Players wait in long queues

Players who download the 50GB game face very long queues. Blizzard is expected to improve their server status soon.

Frankly, if you are planning to play the game, I recommend you to queue at least 30 minutes in advance.

Gifts await Overwatch owners

Players who have purchased the first game of Overwatch can get the Founder's Pack by entering Overwatch 2 before season two ends. With the Founder's Pack; Sojourn, Junker Queen and Kiriko are unlocked immediately.

Players new to the Overwatch universe will receive Sojourn and Junker Queen for free if they start the game in the first season. Also, to unlock the heroes of the original game, they need to play about 100 games.

SMS verification is a problem for some players

In order to play Overwatch 2, players need to link their phone numbers to their Battle.net accounts and activate SMS verification. Prepaid phone users, on the other hand, say that their numbers are considered invalid and therefore they cannot play the game. It is not yet known whether a change will be made.

Overwatch 2 is not a 6vs6 game

One of the most important changes is that unlike Overwatch, the game is not 6vs6. Teams now consist of five players. Each team can only have one tank hero. This seems to require quite different strategies, especially in the esports field.

Overwatch 2 has been released for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch. If you're an Overwatch fan, be sure to check out Overwatch 2 and stay on Luckbox for the upcoming news.
