Outworld Destroyer is one of the trending heroes in the DPC 2021/22 meta boasting a high success rate. We’ve seen teams utilise him in the traditional midlane, but also surprisingly in the offlane.
But why is OD being picked? Let’s find out.
Outworld Destroyer: Stats
For starters, OD has incredible base stats to begin with. Starting with 6 armour, +3.1 strength gain and base movement speed of 320 at the start of the game makes OD a viable pick.
OD’s base movement speed is as fast as some heroes with boots thus giving him an edge over those less fortunate. Having such great stats, OD can rush any item build without having to really lose anything.
Outworld Destroyer: Versatility
Speaking of item builds, OD appears to be extremely versatile. We see pro players rush meteor hammer build as the primary item, and for good reason. Meteor Hammer is cost effective, comes in great buildup and deals significant hero as well as structural damage.
But that’s not all! When I say versatile, I really mean it.
Although meme hammer.. er.. Meteor Hammer is a core item – it’s not the only build in existence. OD can also go Aghanim's Sceptre and Aghanim’s Shard build for more save – in this case for offlane – or Black King Bar and “int” items for dealing heavy DPS (damage per second) and right click.
Outworld Destroyer: Spells
OD can not only dish out insane amounts of damage with his skills – in this case his ultimate – but also come in handy as someone that can go passive-aggressive.
Yes, we are talking about his skill; Astral Imprisonment.
Astral Imprisonment is a great spell under any given circumstances. It can set up allies or stop enemy aggression, or better yet, play the ever important “saving your mates” role. The spell, especially coupled with Aghanim’s Sceptre and Shard, provides multiple charges of Astral Imprisonment that can turn the tide of any game.
Outworld Destroyer: Conclusion
With strong base stats, decent early buildup and flexible late game options, OD is one of the stronger core heroes in the current meta.
If you’re still not sure, then definitely check out Iceiceice’s cheeky gameplay against Team Nigma on the offlane, or Sumail’s terrifying prowess in the midlane. Even BOOM Esports played it extremely well on the offlane.
Thou shall be convinced.
