Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella parts ways with Team Liquid

Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella is stepping down from his position on Team Liquid - adding that his future in professional Counter-Strike is looking uncertain.

Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella leaves Team Liquid, considering a streaming career

The news comes via nitr0's Twitter account, in which he revealed that he is stepping down due to changes in his personal life - and difficulties with the busy travel schedule for CS:GO players.

"I have been traveling constantly for 8-9 years and it has been amazing, but I am at a different stage in my life now with a growing family," said nitr0. "While I highly enjoy competing and would love to continue playing competitively, the amount of travel has become too much, so I have decided to step down with IEM Dallas being my last tournament in CS:GO.

"I don't know what the next chapter of my life will hold, but in the near future, I plan to begin streaming & see where it takes me."

The 27-year-old's career dates back to 2014, when he was on the Area 51 Gaming roster. Since then he has made a name for himself in the Counter-Strike scene, and has become a mainstay of the Team Liquid lineup - having been with the organisation since 2015.

Team Liquid has seen some remarkable successes with nitr0 on their lineup - including being the second-ever team to receive the $1,000,000 Intel Grand Slam bonus prize, which is awarded to the first team to win four S-tier events in a window of 10 consecutive events. Only four teams have been awarded this honor to date, with Team Liquid being joined by the likes of Astralis, Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan.

He was most recently seen in action at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, where Team Liquid placed in 5th - 8th place following a 0-2 loss to Apeks. nitr0 is no doubt hoping that his next (and final) CS:GO tournament ends on a more promising note - with Team Liquid being due to compete at IEM Dallas, which will take place from May 29 to June 4.
