The break at LPL 2022 Spring has begun, thanks to the Chinese New Year, but week 3 has paused at such a place that we can’t wait for the next week. LNG Esports and EDward Gaming staying as the only undefeated teams of the league and Team WE not being able to find a win will be the main points of the rest of the season. Let’s look at how far we have come and what awaits us at LPL.
Because of the break starting in the middle of the week, week 3 has been a short one. With only eight matches being played, it leaves more mystery for the rest of the season. Some important matches were played, like LNG vs FPX or RNG vs BLG. Get the details below.
LPL 2022 Spring Week 3 recap
The week started with LGD Gaming vs Oh My God. OMG started the season fast, but LPL’s old titan couldn’t find a win against the top half of the league. Defeated by BLG and EDG, OMG looked for a win here, and although they were able to manage one, LGD won it 2-1 and took their first win of the season. In the second game of the day, Bilibili defeated Rare Atom convincingly 2-0.
Next up, Ultra Prime faced Invictus Gaming. Both teams had a very bad start with their mediocre rosters, but UP with Cryin utterly destroyed IG and finished it 2-0. ThunderTalk found their first win against Anyone’s Legend in the next game, saving themselves from the bottom of the league.
The good matchups started on Wednesday. TheShy’s Weibo Gaming faced Rookie’s Victory Five in the first game, reuniting the two. In a close series, Weibo was able to defeat V5 2-1. Then, another match concerning the top of the league was played between Doinb’s LNG and his old team FunPlus Phoenix. With the addition of Clid, FPX was able to fight back, but LNG eventually closed out the series 2-1.
On Thursday, Oh My God found their first win against the top half of the league. Defeating knight’s Top Esports 2-0 and getting ahead on the standings, OMG will have a great time during the break. Royal Never Give Up then defeated Bilibili Gaming in the last game of the week 2-1, putting an end to BLG’s winning streak.
