The first Dota 2 Major of the year is nearly upon us, with the first-ever South American DPC Major due to kick off in Lima, Peru, next week.

Lima Major 2023 schedule and format
This year's Winter Major will take place from February 22 to March 5, and will see 18 of the best performing teams in the world fighting it out at the first DPC Major of 2023.
The action will kick off on February 22 with the Group Stage, which will run until February 26. During those four days, the 18 teams will be split into Groups A and B, made up of 9 teams each. Games during the Group Stage will be under a single round-robin format and will follow a best-of-two series.
At the end of the Group Stage, the top four teams from each group will automatically advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs. The teams in 5th and 6th place meanwhile will advance to the playoff's lower bracket, while the remaining teams will be eliminated from the tournament.
The Playoffs will run from February 28 to March 5, and games will be under a single elimination bracket, with all matches decided under the best-of-three format - with the exception of which the Grand Final, which will be a best-of-five match.

The 18 teams at this year's Dota Winter Major represent the best-performing teams in each league of the DPC.
The teams are broken down into four teams from Western Europe and China, three from Southeast Asia and Western Europe, and two teams from both North America and South America.

Those teams will be competing for their share of the prize pool totaling $500,000, with an additional 1,900 Pro Circuit points being shared among the top eight teams.
