The competition at LCK 2022 Spring is tense, and after the series against Gen.G, it is time to salute the leader of the LCK: T1! Although Gen.G didn’t have some of their best players because of Covid-19, it was still a very valuable win for T1, and the gap is of two wins after the win this weekend.
Because of this unfortunate situation, Gen.G will have to wait for their second matchup of the season, and prepare well. In the meantime, the playoffs race got even more complicated, with Kwangdong Freecs finding their second win and every single team in the league staying close for that playoffs spot. Let’s have a look at the last week’s matches first, and move on to week 5’s games.
LCK 2022 Spring Week 4 matches
Week 4 started with yet another first game loss by T1. It isn’t known if this is something done on purpose, but T1 has been playing relatively worse on first games, and then stomp the second game and finish the series on the third one. The fate of the series against Hanwha Life was the same. Following that, DRX defeated KT Rolster and found a very important win which helped them stay close to DWG KIA and the top four.
DWG KIA started the second day by handing KDF their sixth loss of the year, and Gen.G’s Covid-19 affected roster found a well-deserved victory against Liiv SANDBOX. On Friday, Fredit BRION took a critical win against Nongshim RedForce that also had many Covid-19 cases and were unable to field some of their most important players. Consider that Ghost played support after Game 2. DRX took a 2-1 win against Hanwha Life, and the day was over.
The match of the week was played on Saturday, but it was shadowed by the unfortunate Covid-19 cases in Gen.G. Chovy played top lane for this game, and even though Gen.G put on a great fight in the first game, making use of T1’s first game curse, T1 found an unexpected win which helped them finish the series in the second game.
DWG KIA ended the perfect week with a 2-0 over Liiv SANDBOX, and we moved on to Sunday. Kwangdong Freecs defeated NS lacking their stars, nonetheless, it was a critical one for KDF. In the last game of the week, KT Rolster defeated Fredit BRION 2-1, getting themselves ahead of BRO and NS.

The first half of the LCK will end with Week 5’s first games, and we will move on to the second half. There isn’t a game that isn’t important at this point. All the teams are looking for a place at the playoffs, so you should definitely tune in to this week’s games as it could be the end of some team’s hopes while teams like KDF could find the relief they were looking for.
NS will face Gen.G this Wednesday, both teams having suffered from Covid-19 last week. Hopefully, they will be able to field their full roster, but if not, this could have a surprising result. DWG KIA and DRX, two teams at 5-3 will face each other. While DK has had a great form all season long, DRX’s form has improved over the course of the season. Keep your eyes on that one for sure.
KT Rolster with their “rollercoaster” form will face the league leader and currently on-fire T1. If they somehow pull an upset here, that would be huge news. DWG KIA will also face KT Rolster at the end of the week, where KT could steal a critical win for their playoffs chances, as DK is not flawless. Nongshim RedForce will be the second team contesting T1’s undefeated streak, and although T1 is a clear favourite, NS has what it takes to pull an upset.
