Who will win the Major?

Sujoy Roy, Luckbox's Director of Esports and Dota-lover, gave his views on the teams in each group of the KL Major Bracket.

On Group A

He said: "Team Secret are clear favourites for Group A, having hit the ground running for the start of the 2018/2019 DPC season. PaiN are looking a much stronger team with the addition of Misery to their squad, but will struggle to beat Secret. The remaining two teams have yet to prove themselves on the big stage. NiP look like they should be one to watch with TI-winning captain - PPD, leading the team. J.Storm can boast that they're backed by NBA player, Jeremy Lin, but this new team has precious else to shout about after the partnership with Vici Gaming ended in September."

On Group B

He said: "After a disappointing run at ESL One Hamburg where they ultimately lost to long-time rivals Team Secret, EG will be revitalised by the return of their star midlaner, SumaiL. They face a tough group with Vici Gaming and Team Aster representing China. Vici look like their closest rivals here, having performed well as a team recently. TNC Predators are something of a wild card, but they'll struggle to take wins from Group B."

On Group C

He said: "It's been difficult to judge PSG.LGD's recent form since they were robbed of their TI win back in August. I’m counting on them being even more driven for success this year, so I’d be surprised if they didn’t win Group C with ease. Fnatic’s new roster, despite showing plenty of promise, simply hasn’t delivered results and Gambit Esports are yet to impress. Tigers are the dark horse of the group, having been dominant in the DreamLeague minor. If Ahjit is on form expect fireworks from them in this Group, but I still doubt they’ll take a game from LGD."

On Group D

He said: "Group D of the KL Major bracket will be an epic clash between Virtus Pro and Forward Gaming. I have a hunch it's FWD that will be most prepared going into the group stage, especially with Yawar having plenty to prove after missing ESL One Hamburg. VP may have to play catch-up. Alliance and paiN X will get some much needed tournament experience but will struggle once they reach the playoffs."
