After a long tournament, K23 became the Pinnacle Winter Series #1 champion and earned the LAN Sweet LAN ticket.
The teams went through two different stages, and then revealed their trump cards in the playoffs.
Final journey of K23 playing key matches
K23 entered Pinnacle Winter Series #1 from the Main Swiss Stage. On the Main Swiss Stage, K23 beat Team GamerLegion, SKADE and MOUZ NXT, losing only to Endpoint. Thus, they finished the Main Swiss Stage in third place.
In Round of 12, their opponent was Sprout. They eliminated their opponents with quite comfortable scores, and advanced to the quarterfinals. Matching with Heroic, K23 had a magnificent performance. They lost 12-16 to Heroic on Mirage. They then eliminated Heroic from the tournament by winning 16-14 consecutively on Nuke and Overpass. With this comeback, they advanced to the semifinals of Pinnacle Winter Series #1. In the semifinals, they were paired with CPH Flames. Eliminating another strong opponent 2-0, K23 made their name to the finals.
Apeks reaching the final from the Regional Swiss Stage
Apeks entered the tournament from the Regional Swiss Stage. Although they lost to Team GamerLegion and Esports Club Kyiv here, they moved to the Main Swiss Stage by finishing sixth in the Regional Swiss Stage with their wins against MASONIC, One Tap Gaming and GMT Esports. Apeks also performed tremendously on the Main Swiss Stage. They took first place, defeating Team Blink, SKADE and Endpoint.
Defeating Endpoint also in the playoffs, Apeks advanced to the quarterfinals. Here, they beat Fnatic, 2-0 after two great matches and advanced to the semifinals. Although they performed poorly on Ancient against Wisła Kraków in the semifinals, they made a comeback, and advanced to the finals with their performances on Nuke and Overpass.
The wonderful encounter of K23 and Apeks in the grand final
The first map of the grand final was Ancient. K23 won 16-10 on this map. On Nuke, Apeks won 12-16 and equalized the score. The champion is determined on the Overpass map. Defeating Apeks 16-11, K23 became the champion. Thus, they won the grand prize of $44,000 and qualified to participate in LAN Sweet LAN which will be held in April 2022.
Although Pinnacle Winter Series #1 is over, BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022 is in full swing. In addition, IEM Katowice 2022 in February and ESL Pro League Season 15 in March will meet with CS:GO lovers.
