UPDATE: OG confirm ana's return to Dota 2 roster
The OG saga in Dota 2 continues, as the TI8 champions announced that their latest addition, Russian player Igor “iLTW” Filatov, becomes the latest player to leave the team. Since their victory at The International 2018, OG Esports have struggled to replace their star man Anatham ‘ana’ Pham, who took an extended hiatus from the game following that triumph.
It is bad news for iLTW, but it didn’t seem as though he and OG really had the right synergy to play at the top level, which is the same fate that befell his predecessor Per Anders Olsson ‘Pajkatt’ Lille.
DreamLeague Season 11: Schedule, streams, results
While the talent in OG is clear to see, it seems as though they require a very specific set of personalities to work well, and fans that know their history will be aware the blend that won TI8 took a long, long time to find a way to coexist.
A comeback for ana?
However, there could be good news for fans of the org, at least potentially, with the news that ana has been practising the game again, and playing with OG player/coach Ceb too, according to reports. Whether this means he is set to return to the line-up is difficult to know, as the player is an enigmatic and mysterious person, but there is no doubt that fans and players alike would love to see him return to pro play full time.
At this point it is vital for OG to find a solution if they want to defend their TI title at all, with the points requirement a long way off and the org absent from recent majors. It may also be that after working so hard, for so long to achieve their goal, the likes of NoTail and Ceb are struggling to find that same drive and motivation that carried them past PSG.LGD and the rest, and the coming weeks will tell us a lot about the future of the team.
