IEM Rio 2023: Everything you need to know

It's almost time to head back to the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, as we get ready for IEM Rio 2023!

IEM Rio 2023 dates and format

IEM Rio 2023 is due to take place from April 17-23. The tournament will kick off with the Group Stage, in which the 16 competing teams will be separated into two groups of eight teams each. The teams will fight it out in a double-elimination bracket, with all matches being best-of-three, with the exception of the best-of-one opening matches.

At the end of the Group Stage, the top three teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs, while the remaining teams will be eliminated from the tournament. The top-ranked teams from each group will qualify for the Semifinals, the runners-up will move on to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds, while the teams in third place will advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.

Once they reach the Playoffs, the six surviving teams will compete in a Single-Elimination bracket. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be best-of-three matches, while the Grand Final will be a best-of-five match.

IEM Rio 2023 prize pool

IEM Rio 2023 is offering a grand prize pool of $250,000. The winning team will receive the lion's share of the money, alongside an invitation to compete in IEM Cologne 2023, which is due to take place from July 25 to August 6.

How to watch IEM Rio 2023

If you're a truly dedicated fan, you'll be able to watch the IEM Rio 2023 action live from the Jeunesse Arena. Tickets are available via the ESL website at a variety of prices, ranging from one-day tickets to three-day passes covering the April 21-23 Playoffs.
