Malaysian esports organisation Geek Fam will now be going under the name Geek Slate, beginning with its Dota 2 roster.

Geek Fam, now Geek Slate, reveals its Dota 2 roster
The rebranding comes via a partnership with Web3 media startup Avium, which was recently co-founded by former EVOS Esports CEO Ivan Yeo. Slate is Avium's esports arm, resulting in the organisation's new name.
“I’ve known Ivan since the early days of Asia’s esports scene, and we are both pioneers in this space,” said Geek Fam co-founder Lim Keat Kuang. ”When the opportunity was there to work together, I jumped on it. His traction record speaks for itself and I can’t wait to see the growth of Geek Slate into an international brand.”
The organisation's new name comes just months after Geek Slate re-entered the Dota 2 scene, back on November 29 last year. Their Dota 2 team was last seen in 2020, when they secured a third place position at the WePlay Bukovel Minor. Unfortunately however, Geek Fam then was forced to withdraw from esports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and closed its Dota 2 division later in 2020.
But it seems that Geek Fam, now Geek Slate, is making a comeback - and announced its new Dota 2 roster late last year. The organisation's Dota 2 lineup now consists of Rolen “skem” Ong, Joshua “Kokz” Maraño, Nikko “Force” Bilocura, Ravdan “NARMAN” Narmandakh, and Roger “Roddgeee” Tan.
The team is participating in DPC SEA Tour 1 Division 1, running from today (January 9) to January 30. Geek Slate will be competing for their share of the $205,000 prize pool, 1,150 Pro Circuit points, and the right to receive an invitation to the Lima Major.
The Lima Major will be wrapping up this year's Winter Tour, and is due to take place from February 24 through to March 5.
