G2 has announced its roster for the LEC 2023 season, with some new and old faces filling out the team.

G2 announces its LEC 2023 roster

Three new players are joining the lineup for next year, with G2 having signed botlaner Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin and support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle.

The announcement was made via G2's website, with the team stating their desire to "kick it up a notch" and make it to this year's Worlds, and "get another shot at a 0-3."

Of those three new signings, only two are actually total newcomers to the team. Mikyx is actually returning to G2 after a year away, having recently spent much of this year playing for Excel Esports. Mikyx was part of G2's 2019 lineup that saw them winning that year's Mid-Season Invitational, before going on to reach the finals of that year's Worlds, where they lost to FunPlus Phoenix.

Hans sama meanwhile is a fresh face for G2, having joined the squad from Team Liquid - before he left after the team failed to qualify for Worlds 2022. Hans sasma has previously played for a number of teams in his near decade-long career, with his former teams including the likes of Rogue, Misfits and Millenium.

Yike is also a newcomer to G2, and will in fact be making his LEC debut in 2023. Until now, Yike was one of the better-known players in the ERLs, and is joining G2 from LDLC OL. He leaves LDLC OL after a terrific year, after having won both the LFL Spring and Summer Splits, as well as making it to the final of the European Spring Masters, and the quarter finals of the European Summer Masters.

"After dominating the LFL, we have full confidence in Yike to perform on the highest level and we’re looking forward to seeing him jungle gap everyone in the LEC," said G2 in a statement. "On top of that, we’re happy to welcome Miky back to G2, this time hopefully without any wrist issues. We knew we had to pair him with the best talent available, so we reunited Miky and Hans to create the most dominant botlane in the League, powered by friendship and anime."

The three new signings will be joined by returning players from the 2022 roster: Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik and Rasmus "Caps" Winther.

That means G2's full 2023 roster consists of top laner Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik, jungler Martin "Yike" Sundelin, midlaner Rasmus "Caps" Winther, botlaner Steven "Hans sama" Liv and support Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle.
