The IEM Rio Major 2022 will kick off at the end of the month. The participating teams are determined by the currently played RMRs. One of them is the American RMR. The top performing teams of the first two rounds of American RMR were Complexity Gaming, 9z Team, Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid.
Now we will take a look at what happened in the first two rounds and the matches that will be played in the third round.
Results were close to the predictions in general
If you remember, we published a prediction article about the American RMR on October 4. When we look at the results, it seems to continue close to our predictions in general.

Round 1 matches
- FURIA Esports 16 - 2 Infinity
- Imperial Esports 16 - 2 Isurus
- paiN Gaming 16 - 13 Arctic eSports
- Nouns Esports 7 - 16 Evil Geniuses
- Complexity Gaming 16 - 5 ATK
- 00 Nation 16 - 19 9z Team
- MIBR 16 - 9 O Plano
- Team Liquid 16 - 6 Team oNe eSports
Round 1 matches were pretty close to our expectations. I thought Infinity would win more rounds, but frankly, they seemed to accept that they were going to be defeated. Arctic eSports was one of the surprising teams of round 1. They came very close to beating paiN Gaming.

Round 2 high matches
- FURIA Esports 14 - 16 Evil Geniuses
- 9z Team 22 - 20 Imperial Esports
- Team Liquid 19 - 16 MIBR
- Complexity Gaming 16 - 7 paiN Gaming
Round 2 high matches were full of surprises for me. I didn't expect Evil Geniuses and 9z Team to win. I was also predicting that Team Liquid would beat MIBR without needing overtime.
Round 2 low matches
- Arctic eSports 11 - 16 ATK
- Nouns Esports 16 - 2 Infinity
- Isurus 10 - 16 00 Nation
- O Plano 16 - 10 Team oNe eSports
It's almost as if Infinity is not in the tournament. They only won four rounds in the two matches they played. Isurus, on the other hand, came close to get their first win, but failed to do it.
IEM Road to Rio 2022: American RMR Round 3 matches
American RMR's Round 3 matches will be played on October 6.
Round 3 high matches
- Complexity Gaming - Team Liquid (16:00 CEST)
Team Liquid is one of the strongest teams in the RMR. Complexity will likely get their first defeat.
- 9z Team - Evil Geniuses (16:00 CEST)
9z Team started the tournament pretty well. They could win against Evil Geniuses if they put on a good performance, but I think Evil Geniuses is the favourite, by a small margin.
Round 3 mid matches
- MIBR - ATK (13:30 CEST)
The Brazilian team does not seem to have much difficulty against ATK. With the win, MIBR will be one of the top followers of the summit.
- paiN Gaming - Nouns Esports (13:30 CEST)
I think it's hard for Nouns Esports to put on a performance that can beat the mid-tier teams of the tournament. PaiN Gaming is my favourite in this match.
- FURIA Esports - O Plano (14:45 CEST)
FURIA Esports is definitely one of the strongest teams of the tournament. I think they will have no difficulty against O Plano.
- Imperial Esports - 00 Nation (14:45 CEST)
If you ask me, I would say Imperial Esports will win this match, but it will be a quite competitive match. I definitely recommend watching it.
Round 3 low matches
- Team oNe eSports - Infinity (19:30 CEST)
Among the matches to be played on October 6, this is perhaps the match with the most obvious winner. Team oNe eSports will almost certainly win.
- Arctic eSports - Isurus (19:30 CEST)
A competitive match awaits us among the underdogs of RMR. I think the winner would be Arctic eSports.
