We are back on track with the full schedule at LPL, and week 5 is underway! From the start of the week to the end of it, at least two matches will be played and you won’t be disappointed. Week 5 will also see the last season’s finals replayed between EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix. Tune in to find out more!
After last week’s results, LNG, RNG, EDG, Weibo and V5 keep on leading the league. While it is not certain if some of these teams will fall behind before the playoffs, it looks like one of them will lift the trophy at the end of the season and represent the region in MSI. Let’s have a look at the results from last week, and move on to week 5’s schedule.
LPL Spring 2022 Week 4 recap
Coming back from the Lunar New Year break, Invictus Gaming and JD Gaming defeated Rare Atom and Team WE, respectively. Following Thursday, three games were played on Friday as usual, starting with Anyone’s Legend defeating Ultra Prime. Bilibili Gaming bested ThunderTalk, and Victory Five didn’t let Oh My God pull a surprising upset against them, finishing the series 2-1.
On Saturday, EDward Gaming kept their streak going and left Team WE without a win after 6 games, defeating them 2-0. Weibo Gaming defeated FunPlus Phoenix in one of the most important matches of the week. TheShy’s monster Kennen secured the teamfight for Weibo and the series ultimately.
Royal Never Give Up easily bested the underperformers of the season, Top Esports, 2-0. On Sunday, Anyone’s Legend took another important win for their playoff chances against Rare Atom. Rookie then took the stage, playing against his old home Invictus Gaming. IG’s new mediocre roster was able to steal one from Victory Five but eventually V5 secured it 2-1. Fun fact: All 6 series V5 played this season went three games long.
In the last game of the week, Doinb’s LNG Esports dropped one against championship contenders Bilibili Gaming, sending them back to sixth place and securing their winning streak and their place as the leader.

Let’s get to the important matches of the week, as there are quite a few. EDward Gaming will face Weibo Gaming on Tuesday. 5-0 EDG will fight to keep their streak going and catch the 6-0 LNG. Weibo on the other hand has a 5-1 record this year, so a win against EDG might prove useful before the playoffs.
Royal Never Give Up will then face off against Rookie’s Victory Five. Both these teams have only one defeat as of now, and the losing side will find themselves behind in the first place race.
EDward Gaming vs FunPlus Phoenix isn’t what it was last year, but it’s still a great matchup. FPX will try to find the upset that they need to get themselves back into the title race. Another match which would be very valuable in 2020 and 2021 will be played the following day, Top Esports and JD Gaming. If you are feeling a little nostalgic, don’t miss that one.
On the last day, EDward Gaming will face Invictus Gaming. Following that is the important part: Royal Never Give Up will have their second critical game of the week against Doinb’s LNG Esports. While LNG has a better form this year, RNG still has what it takes to give them their first lose of the season.
