FaZe Clan's karrigan sets new CS:GO record

ESL Pro League Season 17 proved to be a fantastic tournament for FaZe Clan, with the team not only emerging victorious in the Grand Final but were also awarded with the $1 million Intel Grand Slam bonus prize. But it seems FaZe Clan has yet more to celebrate, with their in-game leader Finn "karrigan" Andersen setting a new CS:GO record.

Finn "karrigan" Andersen sets CS:GO record

According to HLTV, karrigan now boasts the record of having played the most maps on LAN in CS:GO history - at a total of 1108 maps played. That's factoring in karrigan's LAN gameplay across his impressive decade-long career, including his time not only with FaZe Clan, but also playing for the likes of MOUZ and TSM.

The FaZe Clan captain has taken the crown from the previous record holder, Astralis' Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, who boasts a total of 1095 LAN maps played. Team Vitality's Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen is in third place, with a total of 1051 LAN maps played. As an interesting coincidence, all three of the most prolific CS:GO players all hail from Denmark.

And with Counter-Strike 2 coming up on the horizon, it seems that karrigan could well have a chance of holding onto his crown permanently. The new game is planned to release in summer of this year, and is widely expected to replace CS:GO on the professional scene in the latter half of 2023.

As such, provided that FaZe Clan can keep up their solid LAN performance, karrigan could well go down in history as the player to compete in the most LAN maps in all of CS:GO. Of course, Xyp9x is hot on his heels with just 13 fewer maps, but barring any unforeseen disasters, karrigan should be on course to remain in the top spot.

The final CS:GO Major is due to take place in May, as the upcoming BLAST.tv Paris Major will be the last to feature the now 11-year-old title. The next Valve-sponsored tournament after the Paris Major will be a Counter-Strike 2 tournament, marking an end of an era for Counter-Strike.
