Evil Geniuses will be fielding their academy roster Evil Geniuses Black in place of their main team in their BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown match later today, a switch-up that comes amid a time of deep instability for the organisation.

Evil Geniuses VS Furia Esports BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown schedule and betting odds
Evil Geniuses Black will be competing in BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2023, which runs from March 29 until April 2. The eight teams competing in the American Showdown will be competing for an invitation to the upcoming BLAST Premier: Spring Final, alongside their share of the $67,500 prize pool.
Most notably, Evil Geniuses Black will be taking the stage later today, instead of the Evil Geniuses' main team. Evil Geniuses Black will be going up against FURIA Esports, in a match due to kick off at 20:30 GMT.
FURIA Esports (1.03) vs Evil Geniuses Black (9.00)
The matchup isn't looking good for Evil Geniuses Black either, with the odds heavily in FURIA Esports' favour - given the Brazilian's team's relatively strong performance at the recent ESL Pro League Season 17.
Of course, FURIA are a much more established team than even the main Evil Geniuses squad. The Brazilian team has been an aggressive force at the higher echelons of the CS:GO scene for some time, and EG Black likely has their work cut out for them here. With all matches in the Spring Showdown taking place in a Single-Elimination bracket, it seems that Evil Genius Black's Spring Final ambitions could be over as soon as they have begun.
A difficult matchup against FURIA is hardly the biggest of Evil Geniuses' concerns right now, however. The organisation recently radically overhauled its CS:GO division, a move that saw it combining the Evil Geniuses Black and Evil Geniuses White rosters.
The decision was made due to Evil Geniuses' recent struggles on the CS:GO scene, with the team failing to make much of an impact in recent months. The restructuring saw Evil Geniuses parting ways with the entire Evil Geniuses White roster - with the exception of coach Joeseph "Muenster" Lima.
The Evil Geniuses Black lineup due to take the stage later today consists of Colby "Walco" Walsh, William "RUSH" Wierzba, Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott, Paytyn "junior" Johnson, and coach Tommy "Axed" Ryan.
