Weibo Gaming has announced that it has signed Yang "Daeny" Dae-in to be the new head coach for its LPL team.

Daeny has officially joined Weibo Gaming as their new head coach, and will be leading the team for the rest of the season.
His appointment comes following a disappointing performance from Weibo in recent months, after they finished LPL Spring 2023 in 5th - 6th place, thereby failing to qualify for the ongoing 2023 Mid-Season Invitational.
This marks Daeny's LPL debut, with the coach having previously worked in the LCK, most recently for Dplus (aka DWG Kia and DAMWON Gaming). Despite initially joining the organisation as an analyst in July 2021, he later transitioned into a head coach role in December 2021.
Prior to his time with Dplus, Daeny was the head coach for T1, coaching the lineup featuring the legendary Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok. Unfortunately, T1's performance was somewhat underwhelming under Daeny's leadership, leading to him being let go from the organisation midway through the 2021 LCK Summer Split. As a result, Daeny returned to Dplus, the organisation he started his career with in 2020.
The response among fans to Daeny's appointment has been somewhat mixed, most likely a result of his disappointing performance with T1. However, Weibo seems hopeful that the former LCK coach can help them improve on their recent performance.
After all, Daeny was the head coach of the DAMWON Gaming lineup that claimed victory at the 2020 World Championship. Additionally, while they were ultimately unable to claim victory, Daeny was also part of the DAMWON Gaming team that finished Worlds 2021 in second place.
And so Daeny may still prove his doubters wrong, as Weibo Gaming looks to recover from its disappointing performance in the LPL.
