Cloud9 has officially announced the signing of Timur "buster" Tulepov, confirming weeks of rumours that the Kazakhstani player was due to join the organisation.
Cloud9 benches interz, signs buster
The newest face on the Cloud9 roster will be taking the place of Timofey "interz" Yakushin, who has now been benched by the organisation.
It marks something of an end of an era for Cloud9. While Cloud9's lineup last changed back in April 2022 when it acquired the former Gambit Esports roster. However, the team itself has remained unchanged since July 2020, having been playing together ever since they were on the Gambit Youngsters roster.
The changes have come after a difficult year for Cloud9. Despite winning at IEM Dallas in June, they have little else to brag about from last year. Indeed, they were barely seen at all - attending far fewer events than other tier-one teams. They hardly impressed at the tournaments they did attend either - with a 9th - 12th at IEM Cologne, and 5th - 8th at the Rio Major.
The team seems to be pinning their hopes on some new blood turning their fortunes around. buster has been away from the CS:GO scene for a little while now, having been on the Virtus.Pro bench since June 2022, ever since the team's disappointing showing at the PGL Antwerp Major.
Still, buster has some respectable performances in relatively recent history, having been on the Virtus.pro roster that claimed a 3rd-4th position at IEM Winter 2021.
With buster now on the team, the Cloud9 roster consists of Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov, Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov, Abai "HObbit" Hasenov, Timur "buster" Tulepov and coach Konstantin "groove" Pikiner.
The new roster will make their debut at the IEM Katowice Play-In stage, which is due to kick off on January 31. There's less than two weeks to go - so make sure you've signed up and claimed your free 100% bonus!
