Recap of week 3
The 18th of February
The day's match was between OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra, and it delivered in an unexpected fashion. Shotzzy violated a Gentlemen's Agreement, igniting a community-wide discussion. Despite the fact that Ultra employed the prohibited attachment, OpTic won 3-0.
Earlier in the day, the Los Angeles Thieves humiliated the Paris Legion, who fell to 0-5 on the stage and will begin in the Loser's Bracket.
FaZe extended their domination with a sweep of ROKKR, which has now lost three consecutive games since their initial victory.
The 19th of February
Florida Mutineers pulled off one of the best moments of the season, sweeping Surge and handing them their first loss of the season.
In addition, the New York Subliners finally got on the board in Game 5 with a win over the Boston Breach. And the Minnesota ROKKR demonstrated their prowess once again, with a 90-point comeback on the fourth map and a clear victory on the final search.
The LA Thieves came out strong, winning 3-1 and handing Ultra their second loss of the week.
The 20th of February
A lot was on the line in terms of seeding on the last day of the qualifications. OpTic Texas defeated Breach 3-1, however that map victory was enough to secure Boston's place in the top bracket. London also defeated Surge to finish second in the group stage. FaZe also maintained their unblemished record with a convincing victory over the Subliners.
Here’s the official schedule for the Major 1 that will kick off in two weeks from now.
Matches to watch
The opening round of the Major offers some fantastic matchups; here are two that you should not miss.
Toronto Ultra vs. LA Thieves
The Thieves vs. Toronto Ultra in round one of the Major is a huge game, with Toronto looking amazing at first but presently in a skid. The LA Thieves, on the other hand, look better than ever and will be hoping to get off to a solid start in the Major.
Seattle Surge vs. OpTic Texas
OpTic Texas concluded the Major 1 Qualifiers on a three-match winning streak and will be eager to keep this up. The Seattle Surge are now in a downturn and appear to be far from their Kickoff Classic form.
