CDL 2022: Stage 1 Week 2 – Recap

The Call of Duty League 2022 regular season continues to run on full steam, with the Major 1 Qualifiers approaching its end. Stage 1 will conclude with the Major 1 beginning on March 3. Here’s all the info you need on what happened in Week 2.

Highlights

  • Seattle Surge and Atlanta Faze continue to dominate the first two standings.
  • London Royal Ravens failed to maintain their performance after losing to Los Angeles Guerillas and now follow behind Seattle in 3rd place.
  • Toronto Ultra won against the Florida Mutineers despite using a substitute player.

Day 1 of Week 2 – Friday, February 11

The Seattle Surge and Minnesota ROKKR game was a very close call. Surge and ROKKR traded maps until the last game where Seattle’s Accuracy clutched an incredible 1v2 scenario in round 11 and maintained Seattle’s supremacy alongside Faze.

New York Subliners were pitted against the LA Thieves using a sub: Royalty filling in for Neptune. Newcomer played on 80 ping and that did not fare well for the NY Subliners. In addition, Ultra and Breach both won their bouts.

Day 2 of Week 2 – Saturday, February 12

The London Royal Ravens began the second day with the goal of remaining unbeaten, and which they succeeded but that was about to change the next day. FaZe continued with its supremacy as the reigning champions, led by team captain aBeZy. They won against Breach with a single map loss.

And finally Optic Texas managed to get their first win against Paris Legion. It appears like the team's recent merger with Team Envy caused chaos inside the club that remains to be fixed and it could be seen in their poor performance since the Kickoff Classic.

Day 3 of Week 2 – Sunday, February 13

With a 3-1 victory on the penultimate day of week two, the Los Angeles Guerrillas gave the London Royal Ravens their first loss.

Toronto Ultra won each map by one point (221-220, 6-5, 3-2) against Florida Mutineers and that scarcely instilled trust in their ability to preserve their 4th spot on the standings. Although one must take into account that Ultra utilised Hicksy as a replacement in the last match because former MVP Cammy was ailing.
