BOOM to replace Nisha at Team Secret for DPC 2023 season

Team Secret has announced its complete Dota 2 roster for the DPC 2023 season, with Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan joining as their new midlaner.

BOOM to join Team Secret for DPC 2023 season

Team Secret announced its full roster for the DPC season 2023 via Twitter, with the roster consisting of BOOM alongside Remco "Crystallis" Arets, Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok, Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov and Lee "Heen" Seung Gon.

The news comes days after the announcement that the team's previous midlaner,  Michał "Nisha" Jankowski, would be leaving Team Secret after four years at the team.

Replacing Nisha is certainly a daunting prospect - Team Secret themselves described him as "one of the cornerstones" of their Dota 2 roster over the past four years. Fans would readily agree with that statement too, with him being regarded as one of the best players in the world, with three Dota 2 Major championship wins under his belt.

Still, BOOM's record is impressive in its own right. He joins Team Secret from Gaimin Gladiatiors, where he has been an important part of the team, dating back all the way to their Vikin.gg days. Until moving to Team Secret, BOOM had remained a constant at the team, similar to Nisha's former long track-record at Team Secret.

During his time at Gaimin Gladiators, BOOM helped the team to victory the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 1 Regional Final, beating Team Liquid in a 3-1 win at the grand final. He was also instrumental in Gaimin Gladiators finishing fourth in the ESL One Stockholm Major - a performance that earned Gaimin Gladiators enough DPC points to qualify for The International 2022.

BOOM ultimately parted with Gaimin Gladiators in October this year, after their disappointing performance at The International, where they finished in 9th-12th place.

Team Secret are currently on a high, however - after a disappointing start to the year, where they failed to qualify for any majors. Things picked up in the later months of 2022 however, with the team coming second in the International 2022, after winning the  TI11 Last Chance qualifier in a 2-0 win over Virtus.pro.

Fans are perhaps best described as "cautiously optimistic" about the news, with some doubting that BOOM is a good fit for Team Secret. Still, Puppey has a history of bringing the best out of his teammates - after all, it was Puppey who first took Nisha under his wing after all.
