BLAST Premier World Final team spotlight: Team Vitality

Team Vitality are on their way to Abu Dhabi for the BLAST Premier World Final, for the final CS:GO event of the year.

Vitality are among the highest-ranked of the eight teams heading to the World Final, sitting in a respectable 4th place at 8825 points on the BLAST Premier World Leaderboard.

They've earned that spot through a pretty strong performance all year. The team was granted their ticket to the World Final following their victory ESL Pro League Season 16, where they were crowned champions following their close-fought 3-2 win against Team Liquid.

That was definitely the high point of their year, though they also came close to victory at the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals, where they made it to the grand finals before being defeated by Ukrainian team Natus Vincere (NAVI).

That's not to say the year has been without its setbacks, though. Most recently Vitality placed in a disappointing 12-14th place at the IEM Rio Major in November, following a 0-2 loss to ENCE. They also ran into trouble earlier in the year, ranking 13th-16th at ESL Pro League Season 15, and 9th-12th at the Intel Extreme Masters XVI in Katowice.

Still, this is their second year running attending the BLAST Premier World Final, and they gave a respectable performance last year. While they didn't quite make it to the grand final, they were ranked in third place following their 0-2 loss to NAVI. That strong showing took place shortly after their win at the 2021 IEM Winter Masters, showing that they're not a team to be underestimated.

Team Vitality are heading into the BLAST Premier World Final with their lineup consisting of Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Emil "Magisk" Reif, Lotan "Spinx" Giladi and coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen.

Their first match at the World Final should be an exciting one, with them facing off against NAVI on December 14 at 3PM. The odds are in NAVI's favour there, at 1.65 against Team Vitality's 2.30. Still, Vitality are likely keen to repay NAVI for their defeat at last year's World Final, so they're not ones to be written off just yet.
