BLAST Premier World Final team spotlight: Heroic

Heroic are due to attend the BLAST Premier World Final, which will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from December 14-18.

The team is one of the strongest CS:GO squads in the world, having been founded by former members of Team X in 2016. With the team currently listed in third place on the BLAST Premier Leaderboard (behind FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere), expectations are high for their performance this month.

And for good reason too - Heroic are coming into the World Final as the surprise champions of the BLAST Premier Fall Finals last month, having defeated the mighty FaZe Clan in a thrilling 2:1 victory - which marked something of a rematch for the team, having lost to FaZe Clan earlier in the competition.

That's not the only bragging right in recent Heroic history either. The team made it all the way to the grand final at the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major earlier this year, but ultimately lost to Russian team Outsiders in a 0-2 defeat.

The Fall Finals and Rio were certainly the team's highest moments this year - unless they can go all the way in Abu Dhabi, of course. But they've shown a respectable performance all year, coming in 3rd-4th place back at IEM Katowice 2022.

They've made a slight alteration to their lineup for the World Final, with Heroic giving Martin “stavn” Lund a rest as he begins early preparation for the 2023 season.

That changeup has provided a comeback opportunity for Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke, who will be joining the team as a stand-in for the tournament. The player has been without a team since October since year, after he was let go by Astralis when he was involved in a violent incident during ESL Pro League Season 16.

With stavn out of the picture for now, Heroic's line-up going into the BLAST Premier World Final consists of Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, René "TeSeS" Madsen, Rasmus "sjuush" Beck, Jakob "Jabbi" Nygaard alongside coach Richard "Xizt" Landström.

Heroic's first match at the BLAST Premier World Final will take place on December 14 at 4PM GST, when they will face off against Danish team OG.

There's just one week to go until we can see how k0nfig fits alongside his new Heroic teammates, and if the team can repeat their Fall Finals success in Abu Dhabi.
