Meet the teams

Three teams came here by winning a tournament: Gambit Esports, Heroic and Natus Vincere. Gambit Esports won BLAST Premier Spring Finals to get here, defeating Natus Vincere in the finals. This was back in June, but Gambit managed to stay relevant for the rest of the year. They won IEM Fall CIS, V4 Future Sports Festival, IEM Summer and IEM World Championship this year. They look quite strong.

Heroic won ESL Pro League Season 13 to qualify for the BLAST World Final directly. However, although their places are high on the tournaments they attended, they couldn’t win anything else in 2021.

Natus Vincere is inspecial form, they’ve won three tournaments that give automatic World Final spot: ESL Pro League Season 14, PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and Fall Finals. If you want to find out more about their journey, check out our article about s1mple.

Let’s have a quick look at the rest of the teams: G2 Esports with NiKo has been increasing their performance all year long. Team Vitality isn’t what they were in 2020, but ZywOo is still a beast and they are still good. Ninjas in Pyjamas, led by dev1ce is one of the strongest candidates to take NAVI’s place in 2022, but I believe they are still not quite ready.

Astralis and Team Liquid, although they stayed relevant this year, have been disappointing their fans. They have to get their game on a much better level if they want to keep up with NAVI, G2 and VIT. Astralis haven’t won anything this year, and TL could only win cs_summit 8, a North America only event.
