We'll be finishing the group stage of the BLAST Premier World Final 2022 with the Group B Winner's Match, and it's fair to say it's an unexpected matchup.
The last match of the day will take place at 15:00 PM GMT, when we'll see OG and Team Vitality competing to see who will advance on to the semi finals on December 17. The loser, meanwhile, will participate in tomorrow's quarter finals.
It's a surprise to see both OG and Team Vitality on the winner's stage today, after both teams pulled of spectacular upsets against Heroic and Natus Vincere (NAVI), respectively, in their opening matches.
OG put Heroic at risk of elimination following their 2-1 victory yesterday, defying all expectations. It was a strong start to the match, when OG won their map pick of Inferno with a score of Inferno. Heroic rallied to take Mirage with a score of 9-16, but OG ultimately claimed victory through a double-overtime 22-19 win on Anubis.
Team Vitality meanwhile won against the odds against NAVI and their new six-man roster, claiming victory through a decisive 2-0 win. In an exciting upset, the underdog team earned their spot on the winner's stage by taking Inferno with a score of 19-16, followed by a 16-11 win on Nuke.
Win or lose, OG and Team Vitality will be closing out the group stage, and day two of the BLAST Premier World Final. Tomorrow we head towards the playoffs with the quarterfinals - so this year's tournament is really heating up. Make sure you don't miss out, and claim your free Luckbox account now!
BLAST Premier World Final 2022: OG vs Team Vitality predictions
This is the first time that OG has qualified for the BLAST Premier World Final - and they've certainly made a great debut through their victory against Heroic. It's a promising sign, given that the team has struggled at multiple Majors this year, after disappointing performances at both the IEM in Katowice as well as the IEM Rio Major. Coincidentally, their 17th - 19th placement in Rio came following their defeat by none other than Team Vitality.
Team Vitality have had a similarly strong start - They were considered the underdog team in their match against NAVI, and yet didn't concede a single map in the World Final 2022 debut. Unlike OG, Team Vitality already has a tournament win under their belt this year too - having won the ESL Pro League Season 16. It was that victory that earned their invitation to the World Final, and their performance against NAVI shows that they'll be a force to be reckoned with during this week's tournament.
The odds are in Team Vitality's favour here, at 1.40 vs OG's 2.70. However, both teams were the underdogs in their previous matches, so there's every chance that OG will be able to pull off another upset and earn their ticket to the semi finals.
