BLAST Premier: Spring Groups ends - 6 teams go Spring Finals

BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022, which started on January 28, ended on February 6. Half of the 12 teams in the tournament progressed directly to the Spring Finals.

The other half will try to grab the two remaining Spring Finals tickets with the competition at Spring Showdown. Let's take a look at how BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022 went and what happened.

Second in its group, Vitality will take part in the Spring Finals

Vitality performed quite successfully in the tournament. They started the group stage against EG in one of the most comfortable matches of the tournament, winning 16-3. They then eliminated FaZe Clan in the upper bracket final, but when they faced them again in the grand final, they lost and finished second in the group.

In the play-in stage semifinals, they easily eliminated their rivals MIBR with a score of 2-0. In the final, they faced G2. Although they were defeated by a crushing score of 16-4 in Mirage, the second map of the Bo3 series, they won the series 2-1 and made their mark in the Spring Finals.

A performance beyond expectations from OG

OG is one of the important CS:GO teams; however, they performed above expectations at Spring Groups 2022. First they defeated Astralis, then MIBR and then Astralis again. Thus, they finished first in their group. In the play-in stage final, their rivals were Ninjas in Pyjamas. They made it to the Spring Finals with a stunning 19-17 win in the last game of the Bo3 series.

An interesting final from FaZe, who had a comfortable tournament

One of the top performing teams of the tournament was FaZe Clan. In the group stage, they defeated Liquid, Vitality, and again Vitality, respectively. In the final, they faced BIG. It was quite an interesting final. FaZe won the match on Dust II, 16-14. On Overpass, BIG won comfortably with a score of 16-2. On the last map, Nuke, the opposite happened. FaZe made their mark in the Spring Finals with a comfortable 16-1 win.

G2 handled Last Chance well

G2, who came first in group A, lost 1-2 to Vitality in the play-in stage final. In the Last Chance match, their 2-0 victory against MIBR paved the way for them to the Spring Finals.

NAVI's performance at the start of BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022 was far below expectations. First they lost to MIBR in their group. Then they lost to Astralis and continued through the quarterfinals. Their performance improved and they beat Liquid 2-0 to advance to the semifinals. They also started well in the semifinals against NIP and beat them in the first match of the Bo3 series, but winning two maps in a row, NIP sent NAVI to the Last Chance stage.

They faced NIP once again in the Last Chance match. Realizing it was really the last chance, NAVI won 2-0 and advanced to the Spring Finals.

For BIG, Last Chance was not a big deal

BIG started the play-in stage from the quarterfinals after losing against NIP in the lower bracket final in the group stage. Although EG took the lead over BIG in the quarterfinals, BIG won the Bo3 series 2-1. In the semifinals, they eliminated Astralis and advanced to the final. Unable to resist FaZe, BIG found themselves on the Last Chance stage. Facing Astralis once again, BIG defeated Astralis 2-0 again and became the last team to qualify for the Spring Finals from Spring Groups 2022
