BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2021: Who’s attending?

The final step before the tour's World Final, BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2021 begins this week. If you missed the schedule and betting odds, you can read our previous article here.

An elite set of teams will compete for a spot at the World Final boasting $425,000 in prize money. Let’s get to know these teams before the tournament and find out what they have been up to lately.

All teams participating in this tournament are very familiar and have some of the best CS:GO players of all time. Being qualified here doesn't necessarily mean all of them are in top shape. While Na`Vi is clearly one notch above the rest, other teams such as Team Vitality, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis, BIG, FaZe Clan, Heroic and Team Liquid have a lot to prove.

Let's dive deeper into it.

S1mple

Without a shadow of a doubt, s1mple simply looks to be at his best as is always the case with him. At the moment, the only question is whether or not he is the best player CS:GO arena has ever seen. Na’Vi recently won the PGL Major without losing a single map and s1mple racked up 72 kills in the Grand Final alone. The best G2 player, NiKo had just 52 kills for comparison.

Doesn’t that say it all?

He is not only unstoppable but is also setting the bar himself and it seems like no one is able to close the gap. When will this chase end? One thing we know for sure is that as long as s1mple continues to do s1mple things, Na’Vi will be the favourites in every tournament.

Heroic

After a good start in 2021, Heroic performance tailed off for a while. They lost twice to teams from CIS in consecutive tournaments, and when they started their comeback run at ESL Pro League Season 14, they were stopped again by Na’Vi. Taking this into account, the PGL Major was a great success for them.

Before that, they had to survive the Fall Showdown to get to the Fall Finals. They even started the PGL Major on the Challengers Stage. After all the trauma, the Danish five flourished and played in the semi-finals. After an Inferno against G2 Esports that ended 19-15, their run was over, but it was more than enough for Heroic. Hopefully, they can use the confidence boost they got to emerge stronger.

ZywOo

The French sensation ZywOo was outclassed by s1mple throughout the year. Team Vitality's superstar AWP is yet to win anything after his magnificent 2020 season. The highlight of 2021 for them was making it to the ESL Pro League Season 14 finals, where they took 2 maps away from Na’Vi. Even then, they could not stop the Intel Grand Slam.

2021 is almost over, PGL Major is over where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. But ZywOo needs to forget about that and focus on 2022. The best way to do that is to end the year on a solid note while Na’Vi and s1mple may lose focus because of their Major win. If ZywOo and Vitality seize this opportunity, they can lay the foundation for another empire in the coming year.
