BIG Needs Something Special

They made it to the 4th place in Intel Extreme Masters Season XVII - Dallas and almost came in 1st in Pinnacle Cup Championship before they were eliminated by the Astralis in the semi finals. Team BIG is known for its almost made it to the top moments. But they are constantly pushing for the end game. Can we expect to see a move for a major title from them soon? Well, let’s take a look at what happened in the recent tournaments and how they perform.

IEM Dallas 2022

After overcoming FURIA, BIG, who was accepted as a last-minute substitute, clinches a spot in the tournament's semi-finals.

BIG defeated FURIA in their spot-deciding series to advance to the IEM Dallas semi-finals as Group B's first-place finishers. In three maps, the Germans defeated Andrei "arT" Piovezan's team, winning Nuke 16-8, losing Vertigo 10-16, and eventually claiming Mirage 16-10.

Only to be defeated by the ex Gambit roster which is Cloud9, that defeated the legendary FaZe and ended their streak and claimed victory for the tournament.

Now, for a team to join such an high profile tournament because NAVI and CPHF isn’t attending, and making their way through to the end is something incredible. In BIG’s case it is not fool’s luck, they were in the right place at the right time.

Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022

Fast forward to Pinnacle, where BIG almost made it. What’s interesting is that they lost against Astralis in this A-tier tournament after defying the best of the best in IEM Dallas. When we say that BIG is unpredictable, we mean it.

The Danes battled for their first title in 2022 on Saturday, after turning around 0-6 and 0-7 scores against a BIG without Karim "Krimbo" Moussa.

Following a 2-0 victory against BIG, Astralis has advanced to the Pinnacle Cup Championship grand final.

Despite having Nils "k1to" Gruhne fly in at the last minute ahead of the first playoffs day in Lund when Krimbo tested positive for COVID, the German team stayed competitive, but after giving up two significant early leads, they were again have to leave the tournament at semi finals.

This is the second time that BIG is making into the semi finals of a high profile tournament and failing.

Coming into BLAST Premier

BIG is not making big changes to its roster, nor any sansationas are taking apart the team, which means that the organisation is pretty confident with its roster, and it shows.

After pushing the semifinals for so long BIG proved their mettle to become a top spot contender. In our opinion they will definitely be pushing for the playoffs in the BLAST Premier with their current performance. But for a championship, they just have to pull something special to break the curse.
