The date and location of The International 2023 (TI12) might have been leaked early, with a Dota 2 voice actor suggesting that this year's tournament will be heading to a familiar location.
The International 2022 date and location leaked
Valve has already announced the dates and locations for each of this year's Majors, with the Winter Major due to take place in just a few weeks - running from February 24 through to March 5.
However, Valve has yet to publicly reveal much information about this year's International. However, a recent Facebook post from Dota 2 voice actor John Patrick Lowrie has seemingly leaked the information ahead of time.
At the time of writing, the post simply addresses the fact that Lowrie will be traveling Lima for the upcoming Winter Major. However, the post has been updated, with the caption previously pointing to a date and location for TI12.
The original caption read: "Ellen and I will be traveling to Lima, Peru at the end of February to take part in the first ever South American DotA Major, one of several around the world where the best DotA teams will compete to go to the 2023 DotA International in Seattle this October!”
The post was quickly edited, but not quite fast enough to keep Dota 2 fans from speculating about TI12. Should the original post prove to be accurate, we could be due to see The International making a return to Seattle, which hosted the event from 2012 to 2017.
This would mean that TI12 would be taking place near Valve's headquarters, giving the idea some legitimacy. However, some fans are still skeptical and awaiting the official announcement from Valve. The October date seems likely, however, given that both The International 2021 and 2022 both took place in that month.
